Easy as 1, 2, 3

I like my new dentist, she’s a cheery wee soul and good at her stuff. That she looks around the same age as Holly is fine, my teeth don’t have the same level of understanding and consequent fear that my brain does.
However she phoned in sick back in December and I got rescheduled for the 3rd of 2025 which felt like years away. I was only one year away of course but it was also the best weather day for weeks so I missed the big hills on a pretty day yet again. So it’s lucky that we’d been out the day before for a wee wander round the Mentieth Hills to stretch the legs and lungs after a magic new years dinner the day before with my folks and Linda’s maw joining the three of us. I played it safe with Aberfoyle butchers pies and it was well received. I am always grateful for such days in so many ways.

But the 2nd was magic, very cold and clear with a few flurries around and the hills looking glorious in their fresh snow covering. The trails were frozen but we we were wrapped up and had the down jackets which will be in TGO imminently (the winner is…).
It was getting dark when we stopped for food at the bealach and Ben Ledi was turning pink as the sun dipped. It’s everything you cold hope for on a hill day but in an accessible form. Maybe apart from the long walk out on in the dark on tarmac that had the traction of an ice rink. The scenery sparkled festively in our torch beams though and then we trundled the few miles round to Callander to find the Tasty Fry open for business. We watched the moon rise over a flooded car park with chips and tired grins.

A nice wee start to the year. What we got next I wonder.
