As I sit here in my Christmas pyjamas before I start on new year’s dinner for the many who will soon arrive, my head is a jumble of thoughts at the start of Space Year 0000025.
I’m not sorry to see the old year go. There were some glorious high points, making music and watching others making music being up there but there have been more hospital days than hill days and I just wish for health for my nearest and dearest (aye, and me too) more than anything this year.
Amusingly though I haven’t cut my hair since I last had COVID. I’ve been losing my hair for decades and can probably count the living follicles on the top of my head on my fingers. But COVID was rough this time and getting my clippers charged and into action never climbed up the list of priorities. Instead I started to enjoy the sensation of having a wee bit of hair again, the wind, water, even a brush through it, it’s rather nice.
I’ll keep it for now, it’s duration is not guaranteed though as I do enjoy a faff free existence.
Looking ahead, there are plans. So much to catch up on, smiles to find and joy to claim. Will I be allowed to see them through? Let’s find out.
